Day 3 An early start to begin exploring
World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park. On
arrival into Jabiru, begin exploring the award winning Bowali Visitor Centre.
The quality of the information and displays will enhance your understanding and
appreciation of the natural and cultural attractions you will experience in the
next couple of days. After lunch continue to explore this sensational National

Day
4 (Suggestion Only): Around
Kakadu National Park
A
full day exploring the magnificent natural and cultural attractions that make
Kakadu National Park such a special place. Begin your journey by heading south
to explore the rock art around Nourlangie (Kakadu's most most visited site) including
the Anbangbang Rock Shelter, where there is evidence of occupation stretching
back 20,000 years. You then have the option to visit the plunge pool at Gubara
(4WD only) and make the drive to Cooinda where you will spend the night at the
lush campground and explore the Warradjan Cultural Centre and the beautiful area
around the Yellow Water Wetlands and swim in the newly renovated pool that cost
over $1m to build. .
Inclusions: Campervan Hire, Exclusive Travel Pack / Travel Guide, Kakadu National Park Pass. |
|
|
 |
Day
5 (Suggestion Only): Kakadu - Jim Jim Twin Falls
A great day exploring Jim Jim & Twin Falls. These
two falls are the most advertised in the Top End and are worth visiting; Access
to both falls is via a relatively challenging 4WD track. The last 10 km to the
Jim Jim campsite is slow sand. A further 10 km of 4WD track takes you out to Twin
Falls - but first you must cross the Jim Jim Creek (vehicle with snorkell required).
Jim Jim Falls cascades over 200m straight off the edge of the escarpment and are
best visited in the early Dry, as soon as the road reopens.
Inclusions: Campervan Hire, Exclusive Travel Pack / Travel Guide, Kakadu National Park Pass. |
|
|
 |
Day 6 (Suggestion Only): Around Kakadu
- Koolpin
Gorge
Head
south and experience the great short walks and look outs towards the south of
the park. Your 4WD allows you to enter and explore Maguk with its small yet spectacular
waterfall and clear plunge pool before arriving at Koolpin - a beautiful remote
gorge, Koolpin is arguably Kakadus best attraction. Access is limited to keep
it in its pristine wilderness state. Only 4 Tour operators have been given permits
to enter Koolpin to keep the numbers down. A permit and entry key must be organised
in advance. Spend Day 6 in this spectacular part of Kakadu.
Inclusions: Campervan Hire, Exclusive Travel Pack / Travel Guide,
Kakadu National Park Pass, Assistance with gaining permit to Koolpin Gorge. |
|
|
 |
Day
7 (Suggestion Only): Kakadu onto Katherine
Another
great day explore the attractions in the southern region of Kakadu at your own
pace. Further south in the Gunlom Region their are some great walks around Yurmikmik
and a serene waterfall and plunge pool at Waterfall Creek Falls. (all are 4WD
access only) After another great day exploring Kakadu leave the park and head
towards Katherine and the attractions around Katherine Gorge.
Inclusions: Campervan Hire, Exclusive Travel Pack / Travel Guide, Katherine Gorge Nitmiluk National Park entry (free). |
|
|
 |
Day 8 (Suggestion Only): Katherine
(Katherine Gorge)to
Douglas Daly Region
This morning drive the 30km to Katherine Gorge to explore the gorge and surrounds. The
twelve kilometre Katherine Gorge is carved through the Arnhemland plateau, and
the spectacle of the river, shear cliffs and rock art make this an excellent place
to explore. Photos do not do this area justice. There are three ways to explore
the Park, bushwalking, helicopter flight or boat cruise. The best way to see Katherine
Gorge is a combination of two. Later in the afternoon travel
north along the Stuart Hwy where you will explore the rugged and still undiscovered
Douglas Daly Region. Along the way stop off at Edith Falls for a swim at this
very picturesque waterhole.
Inclusions: Campervan Hire, Exclusive Travel Pack / Travel Guide. |
|
|
 |
Day
9 (Suggestion Only): Douglas Daly Region to Litchfield

the Douglas Daly Region including Tjuwaliyn (Douglas) Hot Springs, Umbrawarra
Gorge and the hidden secrets of spectacular Butterfly Gorge. Depart the Douglas
Daly Region at whatever time of day suits stopping off at attractions of interest
before entering the magnificent waterfalls and swimming holes of Litchfield National
Park. Because you have a 4WD you have the option to enter the park via the south
Douglas Daly Region (4WD -closed during the wet) Northern entry (bitumen) is open
year round: The 4WD track travelling North-South through the park has a number
of creek crossings . The 4WD road accesses some idyllic camp grounds and attractive
uncrowded waterfalls such as Tjaynera & Surprise Creek Falls.
